marshalltrumannpic13Submission Guidelines

If after reviewing our expectations, commitments, and mission, you believe your work is appropriate for Marshall Trumann Publishing, please send it via e-mail to this address: submissions@marshalltrumann.com. Proposals will be responded to in sixty days, full manuscripts in ninety. We are seeking nonfiction manuscripts focusing on family relationships that are Christ-centered. Other manuscripts written for the advancement of The Kingdom will be considered, however, we are not taking fiction at this time. A copy of our standard author contract is available upon request. We believe that you will find it attractive in comparison with other publishers.

Book Proposal: We ask that all manuscripts come with a proposal and that it is neatly organized in this order in its table of contents: Overview, Promotion, Resources Needed to Complete This Book, Markets, Promotional Plan, Competitive Books Reviewed, Complimentary Books Reviewed, Complementary Books Listed, Outline, List of Chapters, Chapter Summaries, Sample Chapters, and About the Author.

For the best chance of a response, we recommend that you refer to Formatting and Submitting Your Manuscript by Jack and Glenda Neff, Don Prues and The Editors of Writer’s Market, the most recent edition of Write the Perfect Book Proposal by Jeff Herman and Deborah Levine Herman, and the current Christian Writers’ Market Guide by Sally E. Stuart.

In preparing the promotional section of a book proposal, authors should consider reading Guerrilla Marketing for Writer by Levinson, Frishman, & Larsen.

Digital Format. Again, we ask that all submissions be sent via e-mail to the address above. The document must be sent as a rich text format (RTF). Please do not use any illegible or difficult-to-print fonts.

To better your chances at getting published at Marshall Truman Publishing, consider the following:

  • We do not take any fiction at this time.
  • Spelling and grammatical errors should not be present.
  • In regards to creating the title, subtitle and cover of a book, we are always open to input from the writer. However, we reserve the right to have final say over the cover of the work.
  • We encourage writers to join a writers group for feedback and enhancing work.
  • Sending a reference of someone or some group that has read and edited the book whom we may contact is desirable.
  • We only want material sent about which the writer is passionate.
  • Writers should know what aspects of their book are marketable before meeting with us about their work or new material.
  • It is a good idea for writers to design unique and simple marketing techniques to make themselves a voice that is sought after in their particular field.
  • Don’t ever forget to thank someone who has aided you.
  • Make a list of all the market segments you can think of who would want to read your book and for what reason. Include this in the markets portion your book proposal.
  • Estimate how many friends, relatives, acquaintances, and associates would be interested in buying the book. (ie. 100, 200, or 45 books?)
  • If your book requires heavy editing, we recommend you send it to an acquisitions editor before submission.
  • You do not have to be a writer professionally to submit to us, but we do ask that you submit professional work. However, if the idea is sound enough, the worst that could happen is that we ask for another revision to be sent.
