Marshall TrumannNature of Marshall Trumann Publishing

We publish books using the traditional offset press method. However, if demand for a particular title drops significantly, we reserve the right to use print-on-demand technology in order to keep the title in print. I can not speak for the particular publisher, but generally in the publishing industry, the price of the book is determined by the print run. The price of the book is inversely proportional to the print run - the lower the print run the higher the price.

We look for a competent author to help reduce the editing cost. We look for an aggressive author to reduce the marketing cost. We look for an author who believes he can sell his work to reduce the production cost.

An author who is willing the make a significant purchase of his own books for resale at his events demonstrates how much he believes in his work. If an author does not believe that he can sell his work, what makes a publisher think they could sell it? What follows is our plan.

Our marketing efforts include:

  1. An annual catalog sent to between 1000 - 3000 Christian bookstores.
  2. Distribution of a sample copy to the top 100 Christian bookstores.
  3. Promotional consultations with authors.

We maintain that the ultimate success of an author’s work is directly proportional to the properly directed effort expended by the author in promotion. Our general mode of operation includes an initial printing of 500 to 1000 copies. Directed promotional activities of the author in the local of residence or professional activity generate book signings, lectures, and media appearances. During such activities the author sells the majority of the first printing. With the profits from deep discounts, the author is self-funded to broaden the scope of activities. All the while, the book is available through normal distribution channels as well as on Amazon.com. Eventually, an author will decide to move to a larger house based upon the success of the forgoing. Or, the author will stay with Marshall Trumann and the combination of royalties through normal distribution and high margin sales at author-attending events.

My hope is to help new or inexperienced authors:

  1. Learn how to promote their work.
  2. Establish a published track record to assist in submissions to larger houses.
  3. Offer a higher compensation formula to authors who stay with us.

Authors are invited to review our standard contract.
